I mean, I appreciate you - but come on, Carol. We’ve got all day to do the dishes. . John and I were inspired by our friends to create a “co-worker” for while we’re working together in close quarters during quarantine. Equally inspired by #TigerKing, we named her Carol. So now, when one of the two of us does something that may be a little annoying to the other during the work day... we just blame our co-worker Carol. . Sound on for our explanation of Carol. Margs to go. I hope is one of the things that stick around after ‘rona. . Along with FaceTiming friends, slow weekends, digital dance parties, group Instagram workouts, Netflix marathons with my husband, and family Zoom calls. Finding new places to spread out and work in 450 square feet like...🙃😂 . We’re almost through week two of WFH isolation in NYC and we’re hanging in! . This week on @marriedundertheinfluence we’re talking about building a budget, why it’s important for couples (and everyone!) to talk openly about their money, and how to prioritize and plan your spending (and why it involves invites on a shared calendar). . Flashing back to a time when we all took sitting outside at breweries for granted. 🙃 . In all seriousness, we’re happy to do our part to #flattenthecurve. This week on the podcast @marriedundertheinfluence we give an update on living in NYC during a pandemic (Times Square is empty, y’all 😳) and talk about ways that you can still support your favorite local businesses even while they are going through a temporary shut down. . And you guessed it - we’re drinking @attaboybeer during this episode (who is offering curbside pick up for their beer in Frederick, MD! 🍻🎉) . We talk about the necessity to step away from the bad news sometimes, why my boyfriend Tom Brady broke my heart this week, and how we’re dealing with BOTH of us working from home in our “intimate” setting here in the Big 🍎. . The biggest fight we’re about to have over the next few weeks: who’s got control over the remote. . All jokes aside - I want to get real for a second. It’s been hard for me to turn off the TV with the COVID-19 news. I’ve been following the news, listening to experts. I realized I’ve been a little too sucked in, and it’s affecting my mental state. I feel a little extra anxious, exhausted by it. . It’s more than just worry of health and wellness for my friends, family and myself, though that is ultimately what’s most important. But it’s also the disappointment of what is being cancelled or postponed. Graduations, weddings, Broadway shows, concerts, sports, birthday parties. Businesses struggling with their reality. Parents with children who are out of school. Events big & small being disrupted by something that is so very hard for all of us to completely understand or wrap our heads around. . We’re allowed to feel bummed out. We’re allowed to be sad, disappointed, angry. It’s unfair and confusing. So let’s agree to be there for each other while we’re all feeling a little inconvenienced, disappointed, confused. Let’s allow ourselves to laugh at the jokes of quarantine while also knowing when to be heeding warnings & taking them seriously. . Let’s remember the bigger picture. ‘Better safe than sorry’ - how many times have we heard that throughout our lives? I’m certainly willing to put a few of my personal conveniences or social affairs aside in order to protect populations that may not be able to protect themselves should something happen. When you think about what others have had to sacrifice in our history, or what others are having to sacrifice or go through currently, I actually consider myself lucky that my way of helping is simply by staying home. . So we’ll be here. In 450 sqft. Confined to our little tiny apartment in one of the biggest cities in the world. (Ironic, isn’t it?) Working from home. Cooking dinners in. And fighting over the remote. . Stay positive. Stay informed. Find out how you can help others. Stay healthy.
